In fiscal year 2011, the EEOC collected $147.3 million in charge receipts filed and resolved under all statutes alleging retaliation-based discrimination. This workshop will discuss some of the pitfalls employers experience when they are convinced that they are not liable for discrimination but fail to recognize their potential retaliation liability.

Nancy Sienko is a 30-year veteran at the EEOC. Ms. Sienko was appointed to the position of Denver Field Director in May 2006. Ms. Sienko began her career at the EEOC as an Investigator in the Milwaukee Office. During her 30 years with the EEOC, Ms. Sienko has served in a variety of positions, including Systemic Investigator, Program Analyst, Enforcement Supervisor, and Enforcement Manager.

Ms. Sienko received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater and her graduate degree from Cardinal Stritch University.

The EEOC is the primary federal agency responsible for enforcing federal statutes that prohibit employment discrimination based on race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability and retaliation.  Further information about the Commission is available on its Web site at www.eeoc.gov
